ANALYSIS

2022 Big3 Playoffs Picks, Odds, Predictions: Trilogy vs. Aliens, 3-Headed Monsters vs. Power

The Big Three season comes to an end next weekend as just four teams remain since the season began in the middle of June. At the top, the Trilogy, 3-Headed Monsters, Power, and Aliens fought their way into the playoffs following an eight-game regular season, with the two-game playoffs scheduled for Sunday in Tampa.

Let’s take a closer look at both matchups and see where the value lies ahead of the opening tip at 3:00 PM EST.

Big3 Basketball Playoffs Predictions

Trilogy vs. Aliens Prediction

When: Sunday, August 14 - 3:30 pm ET

Where to Watch: CBS & Paramount+

Odds: Trilogy -2.5 vs. Aliens +2.5

Already owning the league record for most Big3 Championships won, the Trilogy will look to pull within a game of extending that streak with a win Sunday over the Aliens. With former NBA player James White at the helm, they are on track to do just that, finishing the Big3 regular season with a record of 6-2, leading the pack in point differential as well at +45.

They’ve also benefited from the stellar play of Isaiah Briscoe, who finished the regular season with 153 points of his own to trail only Kevin Murphy (3-Headed Monsters).

The Alien’s Dusan Bulut, however, will have something to say about that as he leads the Big3 in three-pointers and assists to close out the regular season. He’s also had help from Deshawn Stephens, who coming into the postseason ranks #2 in the league in boards with 67.

In the end, I think the combo of Stephens and Bulut wins out on Sunday, as this game turns into a dog fight the Aliens are more suited to handle.

Trilogy vs. Aliens Pick

3-Headed Monsters vs. Power Prediction

When: Sunday, August 14 - 3:30 pm ET

Where to Watch: CBS & Paramount+

Odds: 3-Headed Monsters -2.5 vs. Power +2.5

Led by the best player in Big3 Kevin Murphy, the 3-Head Monsters have been dominant throughout the season racking up the most points of any team at 48.75 per game. Along with Murphy (6’7”), they’ve benefited from being one of the longest teams in the competition, with Quincy Miller and Rashard Lewis coming in at 6’11”.

The real storyline has been Murphy himself, however, as he enters the postseason leading Big3 in points, field goals, and 4-pointers, as he’s turned into the most dangerous 3v3 scoring threat in the world.

As for the Power, they’ve gotten buy from stellar play from Glen Rice Jr., who as of the regular season ranked #3 in the league with 140 total points. They’ve also benefited from the size of former NBA baller Royce White, who along with Rice Jr., has snagged over 100 rebounds through eight games.

In this one, however, I like for the experience of the 3-Headed Monsters to shine through, as this is a team who reached the finals in 2017 and 2021. I like for Murphy to lead this team to victory on Sunday, in the process becoming the odds-on favorite to take home the championship the following weekend.
