Trilogy and Power will face off this Sunday at the Big3 basketball championship game. Let’s take a closer look at both teams and how things might shake out on Sunday.
ANALYSIS

2022 Big3 Basketball Playoffs Picks, Odds, Predictions: Can Power Upset Trilogy in the Championship?

Following last Sunday in Tampa, FL, just two teams remain following what has been an exciting Big3 basketball tournament, as the Trilogy and Power will face off this Sunday at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA for a winner take all championship game. The top seed and defending champion Trilogy will look to defend their title, but I expect the surging Power to have something to say about that.

Just like last week, this game will be streamed on both CBS and Paramount+, with the opening tip scheduled for 3:30 PM EST.

Let’s take a closer look at both teams and how things might shake out on Sunday.

Big3 Basketball Playoffs Predictions

Trilogy vs. Power Prediction

When: Sunday, August 14 - 3:30 pm ET

Where to Watch: CBS & Paramount+

Odds: Trilogy (-2.5) vs. Power (+2.5)

Coming into the game as underdogs, the Power relied on a strong second half last week as they knocked off the taller bigger, and longer, Three-Headed Monsters led by the league’s best player Kevin Murphy. Despite Murphy going for 28 points, the Power’s own ace in Glen Rice Jr. had something to say about that.

Scoring 26 points and securing 6 rebounds, Rice Jr. was complimented by TJ Cline, who added another 10 points and seven rebounds in the 51-49 come-from-behind win. Fellow big man Royce White contributed another eight points to help secure the win.

As for the Trilogy, last week’s semi-final game was theirs from the jump, taking a 26-17 lead into the half and never looking back. As they have all season, the combo of Isaiah Briscoe and Earl Clark took the game over early, finishing with a combined 39 points and 10 rebounds as they overwhelmed the Alien's front court.

Despite a late push from the Aliens duo of Deshawn Stephens and Dusan Bulut, the Power’s defense held state late as they secured yet another trip to the finals with a 50-45 win; also winning outright as underdogs.

While the Trilogy will look to add yet another championship trophy to their collection, I think we see the Power come out on top in this underdog role yet again. With opponents knowing exactly what they were going to do all season, they’ve continued to have success doing that exact thing.

With the size of White and Cline down low, they’ve been able to bound the ball near the rim and get big buckets seemingly at will. When that failed, Glen Rice Jr. has the ability to hit any shot on the floor as he finished the season averaging 17.5 points per game; amongst the best in all of Big 3.

They also have the stronger bench in this matchup, as captain Cuttino Mobley can step in and play both inside and outside, but has been most clutch from outside hitting multiple big shots from deep this tournament.

Despite having experience on their side, I look for the Trilogy to fade late against the more talented (and likely hungry) Power.

Trilogy vs. Power Pick

Pick: Power +2.5 -108 (Bet $108 to win $100)
