ANALYSIS

Clippers vs. Timberwolves Player Prop Pick: Can Ivica Zubac Make Us All Rich Tonight?

The NBA Playoffs start tonight so that means one thing. We're gambling. Why? Because it's fun and it makes the games so much more intense. Even the playoffs, which is hard to believe because they are already tense. We've got two games tonight and while I'm still looking for a move in the first one, I think I've nailed something down for the second one. By second one, I mean the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers. They'll meet at 9:30 pm ET on TNT and it's highly likely to be electric. I think we should bet the hell out of it. One thing I like to do on the first couple of games is to go with a huge moneyline. We need to show the books that we're not afraid to shoot. It's kind of like hoisting up a logo three on the first possession of a pickup game. These people have to know that we're unpredictable. It just has to be like that.

Ivica Zubac Double-Double @ +350 (Bet $100 to win $350)

Odds available at BetMGM at time of publishing

Shop around people. DraftKings came in at +340 for this which isn't bad but both FanDuel and Barstool are hanging +320. You always want the better price on a logo three like this. Put it this way, when you're bragging to your friends and family about hitting this, do you want to say you hit a +320 or a +350 bet? See what I mean?

At first, this looks crazy. Borderline reckless even. But once you dive into the numbers and start your mental simulations, you see what I see. It's not that crazy. It almost feels smart. Almost. Once you get past the fact that we're betting a guy that might only play 20 minutes to record a double-double, it's all smooth sailing.

Here's the thing about Zubac. I think he'll get a decent run tonight which means roughly 25 minutes with an upside near 30. The thing is, he really doesn't need much time to do damage. In each of his last four games, he's recorded a double-double and he never played more than 25 minutes in any of those games. That's crazy.

Tonight he gets the Timberwolves which I think helps because of Karl-Anthony Towns. Somebody has to cover him and Zubac matches up at least size-wise. He should get minutes and those minutes will come against a team that allows opposing centers to average 29 and 18 over the last seven games. We just need 10 and 10 people.

Zubac has seen these guys before so there's that too. In three meetings this season he's recorded a double-double in two of them. One time he only played 22 minutes. If you're worried that this is the playoffs and Zubac will be nervous, he recorded double-doubles in each of his last three playoff games. Stop hating. I think this guy can do this tonight and make us all look like legends in the process.

* I get that this may be too bold of a move for some people so if you want to just do Over 9.5 points, you can get it for -110 at FanDuel. No one will shame you for wimping out (probably).
