The NBA is back Sunday which is huge because we need the NBA to be back. We had a nice little degenerate day Saturday but a lot of people say it's more fun to win. I could take it or leave it but the people may be right on this one. Here's the thing, Game 1 of NBA playoff games are hard for me to predict. It's just tough to know what these coaches are going to try. One thing I like to do to avoid taking a bath on a Game 1 if I am not sure how to approach it is to bang something out on the series itself. You can get spreads on these things nowadays and honestly, it's a pretty filthy way to roll. Especially when you think you have an angle on the series as a whole. Lucky for us, I found a way to get down on the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks series. This way, we can not have a clue what we're going to see in Game 1, but still have plus money action on the game. Just amazing work here when you think about it.
Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks Prediction
Boston Celtics -1.5 (Series Spread) (+112) (Bet $100 to win $112)
*Odds Available at FanDuel at Time of Publishing*
I took this one at FanDuel because DraftKings was only offering -105 for this. If you don't know what I am betting, listen up. It's easy. Basically, we're saying the Celtics will win this series 4-0, 4-1, or 4-2. These bets are under "Series Markets" on DraftKings and "Eastern Playoffs" on FanDuel. Nothing but electricity in these markets to people. Action for days. Literally.
I'm not telling you anything when I say that not having Khris Middleton is bad for the Bucks. Like really bad. I can't emphasize enough that the Chicago Bulls team they beat without him was awful. You simply can't look at that series and say "they won in round one". We could argue that any team in the playoffs would have beaten the Bulls in the first round. They just weren't good.
Next, you have to look at the fact that the Celtics just embarrassed the Brooklyn Nets. We're talking sweep. I get that the Nets aren't great outside of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving but we're talking Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving here people. Durant is the best scorer in the game and he still couldn't get anything going against Boston. They had the number one defense in the NBA this season and now they get a team without one of their top scorers in the Bucks. Blood is in the water.
Everyone is going to talk about Robert Williams being back and how his presence affects the Celtics' defense and they're right. He's big. But what people forget is Jayson Tatum might be the best player on the planet right now. He's a walking bucket and Boston doesn't even have to use him to guard Giannis which is huge. The man dropped 42 on Milwaukee already once this season so let's not act like he can be stopped. I think the Celtics come out of Boston with two wins in Games 1 & 2 and even if they don't, they should still win this series by at least 4-2.
