Phoenix Suns vs. Dallas Mavericks Prediction: Can Luka Doncic and Dallas Steal a Win on the Road in Game 5?

The Dallas Mavericks tied the West Semifinals at two against the Phoenix Suns. After the Suns went up 2-0 on their home floor, the Mavericks returned the favor with two wins of their own at home.

The Suns still have home-court advantage and will get two games at home, if necessary. But if Dallas can steal a victory on the road in Game 5, Phoenix could be in trouble. Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Sunday’'s game between the Phoenix Suns. and the Dallas Mavericks.

Phoenix Suns vs. Dallas Mavericks Game 5 Prediction

Despite the Suns winning the battle on the glass, Phoenix still ended up losing to Dallas, 111-101, on the road. Dallas forced a high amount of turnovers on the defensive end and nailed 20 three-point shots while hitting 45.5% of looks from downtown in Game 4.

The Mavericks nailed 11 more three-pointers than the Suns and still won the game despite shooting at a lower percentage from the field.

At home, Dallas has been much better on the defensive end. In Game 4, the Mavericks held Chris Paul to just five points in 23 minutes. He fouled out in those 23 minutes but took just four shots and was never able to get in sync.

Devin Booker, on the other hand, scored 35 points on 10-22 from the field but the Suns didn’t get any other real contribution offensively in this game. On the other hand, Luka Doncic scored 26 points in Game 4 but shot just 1-for-10 from downtown in that game. But it was most impressive that Dorian Finney-Smith dropped 24 points on 8-of-12 from downtown in 38 minutes. He took 13 shots throughout the game and 12 of them were from downtown.

Throughout the entire series, the home team has won pretty easily. I don’t think that will change once Phoenix gets back on their home floor. The Suns need to do a better job of limiting turnovers and obviously need to defend the three better. Doncic was missing at a high rate but Finney-Smith wasn’t. I’ll rely on the home team to get me the win against the spread.
