The Celtics had to deal with some tough news before game one as defensive player of the year Marcus Smart was ruled out with an injury, and starting big man Al Horford was ruled out due to health and safety protocols. That did not look like it was going to have a big effect on the Celtics in the first half as they took an eight-point lead into the locker room led by an outstanding half by Jayson Tatum.

The game, however, was a tale of two halves as the Heat stormed back in the second half to take a commanding double-digit lead heading to the fourth. The head of the comeback train was Jimmy Butler, who turned in yet another forty-plus point performance. Butler has been one of the best players in the playoffs and proved why on Tuesday. The Heat have been the best third-quarter team in the NBA this postseason, so that needs to be a point of emphasis for the Celtics.

The Celtics need to play a consistent game as they won three of the four quarters, but the third was so lopsided that it decided the game. The Celtics are expected to return Smart tonight but will likely be without Al Horford and will be without backup guard Derrick White. 

I am taking Boston with the points tonight. I love the fact that we are getting this many points after game one. I expect a lot of people to back Miami tonight, and I will fade that. The Celtics are a great road team. Miami is a great home team, so I cancel that out. I believe in this Celtics team to bounce back after that game one performance.

They outplayed Miami for three of the four quarters. They just had a brutal twelve minutes. I do not expect the same thing to happen tonight, as I expect a much more focused effort in the third quarter. The Celtics also return their lockdown defender in Marcus Smart, which will be a huge boost in this game tonight. The energy that Smart brings along with his defense will really help Boston tonight. I do think the Celtics win, but I will gladly take the points with the road dog tonight.
