The Philadelphia 76ers vs. the Boston Celtics will meet up from Beantown on Tuesday night as the two teams kick off their seasons. It was a disappointing season last year for Philly who yet again, could not make a playoff run despite having a great regular season.

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers Prediction

The 76ers lost to the Miami Heat and yet again fell short of reaching the eastern conference finals. That has been the issue for the 76ers for the last five seasons. They have been a playoff team in all five years, but the big game woes have been too much to overcome.

The teams had made a few changes over the years, most notably last year when they traded Ben Simmons in exchange for James Harden. The Harden move had the city excited, but Harden did not play his best basketball last year. Harden appears to be in great shape coming into the 2022 season and claims he feels better than ever. Joel Embiid won a scoring title last year and came in second place in MVP voting to Nikola Jokic. Embiid will have his eyes on an MVP award this year.

The Celtics had a better season than most expected, especially after the start that they had. Boston is the defending eastern conference champions, and they will look to show why tonight. The Celtics came up short against the Warriors in the finals, but the bottom line was it was a hell of a season. The Celtics are led by a pair of all-stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

They also have one of the better supporting casts in the NBA. The Celtics, unfortunately, had some bad press in the off-season surrounding head coach Ime Udekoah. He was suspended for the season for violating work policies. The Celtics will be led by Joe Mazzula this season. 

I am staying off the side here as I feel it is a coin flip, but I did find a prop that I absolutely love for tonight. I will be looking to the services of all-star center Joel Embiid. We will be riding the over of Embiid tonight on rebounds is currently sitting at 10.5. Embiiid, as we all know, is a monster on the glass, and this Celtics team really struggled to rebound the basketball in the preseason.

Now I do take the pre-season with a grain of salt, but a huge resin that they struggled with was the absence of starting center Robert Williams. Williams is a top-three defensive center in basketball and one of the best rebounders in the game. The lack of presence that the Celtics have in the paint should favor this play for Embiid tonight, which I expect to log a lot of minutes in a presumably tight game. Let’s kick off the season with a win!
