Warriors vs. Lakers Prediction

The NBA returns tonight, and I am fired up to get back to cashing tickets on the hardwood. The Los Angels Lakers and the Gooden State Warriors will tip off the season from the Bay Area tonight.

Golden State is coming off yet another NBA Championship in the Curry-Thompson and Green era. They took the league by storm last year, and they were able to outlast the Boston Celtics in the finals. This is a team that, yet again, is seen as one of the favorites to run it back with a ring this year. The combination between Curry and Thompson is the best shooting backcourt that the league has ever seen. Steve Kerr has done an outstanding job with this group and turned them into a dynasty. It will be fun to see if they can continue their dominance this season.

The Lakers, on the other side of things, are coming off of one of the more disappointing seasons in the franchise's history. Los Angeles did not make the play-in game last year, and coming into the year, they were the favorites to come out of the West. Russell Westbrook really struggled during the year, and Anthony Davis and LeBron James struggled to stay healthy. When he was healthy, James looked as good as ever. He will look to continue his stellar play this season. The Lakers did make a coaching change, as Darvin Ham will make his debut tonight for the Lakers. 

I am all over the Lakers on the spread tonight. I am betting on a bit of a championship hangover here, but there are other reasons. Steve Kerr said that most of his starters would be on a time limit, so I do not expect a normal rotation for the Warriors tonight. This should open up some opportunities for the Lakers to go on runs as the game goes on. The Lakers are much better than their record last year indicates, and I fully expect them to bounce back and be a much better team this season. I will ride them to kick off the year.
