Brooklyn Nets vs. New Orleans Pelicans Prediction

The Nets come into the year with a lot of pre-season hype around the team after a disappointing 2021 campaign. The Nets have one of the best rosters in the NBA on paper, and they will look to show why on Wednesday night. Their roster is headlined by Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

A lot of reports indicated that both Irving and Durant would not be a part of the Nets team in 2022, but they were able to figure things out and remain on the roster. Brooklyn also will be with Ben Simmons for the full season this year, pending injuries. Simmons was acquired from Philly for James Harden last spring. Simmons did not play for the Nets after being acquired, but if he is healthy, he should help this team out a lot, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

New Orleans comes into this season feeling good about how they ended last year. The Pels pulled off an upset in the play in the round and gave the Suns all they could handle in round one. This is a team that will bring back their best player now in the form of Zion Williamson. Zion missed last year with an injury, but when he is healthy, and on the court, he is a top-ten player in basketball. It appears Williamson is in the best shape of his life, and the Pelicans are e static about the possibilities for the team this season. 

I am backing the Nets on the money line tonight. I am very high on this Pels team, but I think the Nets get this one tonight at home. This is a Nets team that has a lot of pressure on them this season, and I expect that they come out strong to tip off the year. This is a good matchup for the Nets based on the style of play that we will see.

The Pels like to play with a lot of paces, and the Nets are most successful when they play in a run-and-gun type of game. I do not think that the Pels will be able to keep pace with the Nets scoring tonight. The Nets will start the year with two big pieces that they missed towards the end of the year in Ben Simmons and Joe Harris. I believe that they make an impact on this game tonight and that we will see how deep this Nets team can be. I expect a good start from Brooklyn tonight.
