NBA Player Prop Picks for Wednesday: Paolo Banchero, Jordan Clarkson, and More

The NBA is officially starting back up tonight! We've got two games on the horizon. Both games will be on national television on TNT. The two games both have intriguing matchups.

The Philadelphia 76ers will travel to Boston to start the season to take on the defending Eastern Champions in an exciting rivalry matchup. After that, we'll get the Golden State Warriors, the defending champions, against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James are healthy and ready to go, giving the Lakers a real chance in the West this season.

As a disclaimer, I'm an analytics guy. I love using numbers that can help with placing bets. Because it's the first day of the season, we don't have numbers to go off of. In the first couple of days, I'm going to make picks based on assumptions. But after we get any kind of sample size, we'll be able to introduce numbers to back up each bet.

Here are three prop bets to consider for tonight's NBA slate.

Paolo Banchero Over 1.5 Assists (-104) (Bet $104 to collect $100)

Paolo Banchero could be this year's Rookie of the Year. We haven't seen him in an official NBA game yet.

But we can take some of what we saw from preseason and apply it here. In the final game of the preseason, Banchero scored 17 points while earning five rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes.

He took a few three-point shots, finished 50% from the field, earned some rebounds, and passed the rock. As he develops, he will want to become more of a box-score stuffer.

But for the number of minutes, he's going to play, Banchero getting two assists while spending 30 minutes on the floor seems reasonable.

Cole Anthony Under 5.5 Assists (-120) (Bet $120 to collect $100)

Meanwhile, Cole Anthony's assists numbers might end up dropping. Last year, Anthony finished the final three games with four or fewer assists in about 25 minutes of action per night.

The ball won't be in his hands as much, especially with Jalen Suggs able to play in this game.

I'm not high on Anthony to start the season.

Jordan Clarkson Under 18.5 Points (-110) (Bet $110 to collect $100)

To begin the season, we're making more assumptions. I promise that I'll have more of an analytical approach as we get some sample sizes.

Jordan Clarkson averaged 16 points in the regular season last year. Donovan Mitchell is gone. Rudy Gobert is also gone. But the Jazz now has so much depth of capable players because of those trades.

I don't think Clarkson will have the early volume that many people expect. Collin Sexton, Mike Conley, Malik Beasley, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker will also look for their shots. Take Clarkson's under.
