This one pains me. My first bet of the NBA season is fading my favorite player on my favorite team. This number is just too high in my opinion and let's get into why. First off, the matchup is one that Cade has struggled in. Against Orlando, we have seen Cunningham score eight, 12, and two points. All three matchups were in the first half of the season and he got better as the season progressed but none of those are even remotely close. Against Orlando, he shot 7-39 among the three games which aren’t even 18%.
Cade was better in the second half of the season but he also looked much more comfortable on the floor with a lob threat and he loses that with Bagley injured. With Bagley, we saw Cade score 22 points per game but without him, he didn’t even average 16. Cade scores plenty of his buckets attacking the rim and without a lob threat, the defense will be able to focus on his drive more to the rim than playing any potential pass.
This number is just too big. Cade scored 22 points or less in 49 out of 64 games last year. This prop has a 76.5% hit rate and he’s three for three on the under against the Magic. This will be my only 1u play of the day as I start the season taking mostly half a unit of plays to feel out the season. If I’m wrong here I get to watch my favorite player ball out but if I’m right then we win some cash. I think Cade could have a 20/5/5 type of game that is more than respectable. NBA is back, let's roll!
