This is a great buy-low opportunity. Adebayo didn’t look like himself in the first game of the season but I expect a speedy bounceback. The positive of his first game was he wasn’t afraid to shoot as he shot the ball 15 times. If he sees the same volume then I like the chances of his efficiency going up against a Boston team missing Robert Williams.
If you just look at Bam Adebayo against the Celtics historically then there’s a lot to be desired. When you dig deeper into Bam against the Celtics when Robert Williams is out, then it’s way nicer. Bam has faced off against Boston without Williams twice and scored 31 PTS in the playoffs and 17 PTS on just 10 FGA in the regular season. He’s going to want to bounce back and he should.
Bam last year averaged 19.1 PTS per game, so we’re getting a great discount here. This game projects to be competitive with just a -2.5 spread so I don’t anticipate him playing any fewer minutes than a normal night assuming he stays out of foul trouble. Taking overs against Boston is always scary as Smart, Tatum, and Brown are all phenomenal defenders but this has great value and is too good to pass up.
