I don't want to lay -115 but we're not getting an alt lines on Mr. Harden in this market tonight. Since that's the case, we have to bite the bullet and take the standard line like everyone else. Right now, BetMGM is winning that battle with a -115 price tag. FanDuel is a close second at -118 with DraftKings bringing up the rear at -125. Honestly, all those numbers are playable.
I'll be quick since there's not much analysis going on here. First the bad news though. These two teams are the bottom two in possessions per game so far this season. We could be looking at a game that will be played at a snail's pace. Still, it should remain close all the way through so I'm not too worried. As long as Harden plays his full complement of minutes, we should be good.
In four games this season, Harden has smashed this number three times. The guy ended up with 50, 49, and 48 in those games. The only time he didn't make it was the night he went for 33. The thing is, that night he went four for 18 from the field. Obviously, those nights happen but they are few and far between. He wouldn't have had to be much better from the floor to get home that night. The number we care about is the 18 shots. That's a healthy volume.
The thing I like a lot is the fact that Harden's assist numbers have risen in the last two games and he's still taken close to 20 shots from the field. That's important because Toronto is second to last in the opponent assists per field goals made metric. If Harden is going to cash this number for us, he will likely need assists on top of his points. The rebounds will be extra but he hasn't finished with less than eight in any of his four games this season. I think he lands in the mid-40s tonight.
