1u - De'Aaron Fox Over 5.5 Assists (-140) (Bet $140 to Collect $240) Best odds available at BetMGM (click here)
We couldn’t not gamble on Halloween. With all of the Freddy Kreuger's and Jason's walking around tonight, the scariest thing could be us not betting on something. Luckily we’re on an NBA bet tonight that I’m really happy with, and we found a great price compared to other books. BetMGM Is offering over 5.5 assists at -140, which is significantly better than the other books, around -170 for 5.5 or already moved to 6.5.
Fox is only averaging 5.6 assists per game and has only hit 6+ in two of five games, so you might wonder why I like this bet so much. Allow me to explain. This game will be very fast-paced. These are two top-five teams in pace, and this total is set in the 230s. This game also projects to be close, which bodes well for Fox seeing his usual 35+ minutes. Charlotte allows plenty of points to point guards, so Fox will definitely see his fair share of buckets, but if he gets too hot, they will force him into passing situations which should lead to easy assists.
The main reason I love this prop is seeing his potential assists and then his actual assist number. Fox averages the 9th most potential assists in the NBA with 14.2 per game. Although Fox is top-ten in potential assists, he is 29th in assists per game. Twenty-eight players in the league average more assists than him, even though he’s top 10 in setting his teammates up. At some point, his players will make their shots against this Hornets team, who play so fast it seems like a high-scoring game where he will get some positive regression on those numbers. This is a sneaky play, and I’m hoping it pays off. I know people will ask, “would you play this at 6.5?" I wouldn’t at 6.5 because it loses too much value, but I would try to live bet this if he has a slow start. Let's roll!
