Trail Blazers vs. Grizzlies Prediction

Anfernee Simons Over 5.5 Assists (+115) (Bet $100 to collect $215) Click here for the best odds, available at DraftKings

We're at DraftKings for this one since they have the best number for a standard line. Over at FanDuel, they are offering 5.5 (+108) so they aren't far off. The only difference with FanDuel is they have ladders. Like if you want to go 8+ (+320) on this cat's assists, you can do that. That's enough to get anybody jacked up, especially when you think about the fact that it's not even that crazy.

Here's the thing about this one. The horrific number DraftKings put out isn't really their fault. It's just not. Anytime a high-usage player like Damian Lillard sits out, it has to be hard to price everyone that will be dividing his usage. You try doing it. There's no way it's easy. All we have is one game to go on as of right now. Sure we could look at the last NBA season, but that was last season. This is this NBA season. We want this season's data. It's newer.

In Lillard's absence last game, Anfernee Simons ran the point. It was expected. People will see that he finished with seven assists and think this number is fair, which is fine, but you need to dig deep to beat these books. Once you do that, you'll see the books must not have realized that Simons had 16 potential assists in that game. That number is up from four the game before, with Lillard running around. These books will never learn.

The beauty of tonight is that the Trail Blazers will welcome the Memphis Grizzlies to the Moda Center. The same Grizzlies team that is second to last in the NBA in defensive efficiency this season. On top of that, they also like to play fast, so we're getting more possessions. More possessions are good since the Grizzlies' opponents see 66% of their field goals coming via the assist. Honestly, this kid could set a record tonight, and all we need him to do is get six assists. That doesn't even seem fair.
