This line was originally 5.5 and only moved up one AST with CP3 being ruled out. When CP3 is out, we have seen Booker have great nights as the floor general. Last year Booker was 7/11 on hitting this prop with Chris Paul out. He averaged exactly 7 assists per game without him and had exactly 7 assists against a very similar Timberwolves team last year in this same circumstance.
Booker will have high usage tonight and this game projects to be high-scoring and close. Minnesota allows the most assists per game in the NBA with 28.7. Booker already averages over 10 potential assists per game and another 15.8 will open up. Chris Paul averages the 4th most potential assists per game. Booker will look to get buckets of course but will also be a major distributor in this one.
Cam Payne is another guy who will see a huge usage bump tonight. When they shared the starting lineup last year they had plenty of games where they both had 7+ assists. We’re still waiting on the lines for him but he could also have an enticing assist prop.
