It may not be the biggest NBA slate with just three games, but I feel like we have a good one here. This is an alternate line compared to his regular 20.5 line. We’re buying half a point down because he finished with exactly 20 points five times last year and to begin this year but has never scored 21 exactly. This game could also get ugly and become a blowout, so I would rather have an easier number to hit through 3 quarters.
So why do we like Vassell tonight? First off, he has hit 20+ points in 8/11 games on the season. Outside of that, he is playing the team that allows the most points to shooting guards in Sacramento. The Kings have allowed 20+ points to shooting guards routinely when facing ones who are natural scorers. Guys like Simons, Herro, Poole, Mitchell, and Bane have all smashed this number. Vassell might be a tier below them, but he still is a gifted scorer who attempts 16 field goal attempts per game.
Although this game has blowout risk, we can’t ignore the 8/11 hit rate and having the best matchup in the league. The total of this game is 237, which is just insane. This play could hit through three quarters if Vassell is shooting well tonight. If this stays close, I don’t see how this loses. Because we’re playing the juiced alternate line, we will just play for half a unit, but this is fun and worth staying up for. Let's roll!
