We’re returning to a market that made us some coin last year.
As of right now the only book with this up is Caesars. DraftKings seems to have finally joined the party where you can single-bet 1st quarter-player props without having to same-game parlay it. This game doesn't even necessarily project to be a blowout with Jokic and Murray out, but the NBA is unpredictable, so it’s nice to get a bet where the only malarkey can be foul trouble or injury.
Cade Cunningham has been out for six games now and Dwane Casey runs a different 1st quarter rotation now that the No. 1 pick is sidelined. Before the injury, we would see Ivey maybe play just five or six minutes, and then come back to begin the second quarter when Cade sat. Ivey is now playing nine or 10 minutes in the first quarter and being asked more as a scorer. Ivey is 5/6 on scoring 5+ 1Q points since Cunningham has been sidelined.
Prior to the last game when Ivey left the 1st quarter in foul trouble, we saw Ivey average 6.2 1Q points in the previous five matchups with over 10 minutes played. Denver is an interesting opponent and hasn’t played too many slashers like Ivey. The closest comparison would be Westbrook, who scored five in the 1Q off the bench when Denver faced the Lakers. Deandre Jordan shouldn’t be too feared in the paint and I can see Ivey getting some nice looks or getting to the line. Let's roll!
