Portland Trail Blazers vs. Denver Nuggets Prediction
The Nuggets come into this game off of a tough loss on Tuesday night at home vs. the Mavericks. They will look to rebound from that performance tonight against Damian Lillard and the Trailblazers. Portland enters play tonight off a pair of wins in the month of December. The Blazers are a couple of games over the .500 mark, and they have impressed a lot of people this season. This was a team that had fairly low expectations entering the season. Damian Lillard headlines this roster but the surprising star for the Blazers this year has been guard Anfrenne Simmons.
The Blazers felt confident in Simmons coming into the year, but he has really taken a leap this season. He enters play tonight, averaging 24.7 points per game. Another guy who has really stepped up for the Blazers has been Jerami Grant. Grant is averaging 23.0 points per game and has been very good on the defensive end as well for Portland. They will look to continue their strong play tonight at home.
Denver feels like they have a championship-caliber team this year, headlined by MVP Nikola Jokic. The real advantage for the Nuggets this year is that they have been able to stay fairly healthy. When they are fully healthy, this is one of the best teams in the Western Conference.
I am all over the Nuggets in this spot tonight. Denver is being very undervalued here, in my eyes, coming off of a bad performance. I think that they will re-group tonight and can beat a Blazers team due to some regression. Denver should hold a significant advantage in the paint tonight, which should lead to a lot of open looks. We all know how good of a playmaker Jokic is, and if Denver can shoot the ball from three the way that they have this season, I think that they will take care of business with ease. I will trust the better team on the road tonight.
