This isn’t the popular play in this game. The narrative here is Donovan Mitchell is against his old team, which will more than likely be the most bet on prop tonight, and for good reason. Although that could very well hit and I wouldn’t be surprised, I like the idea of pivoting to another guard who could do some damage against them.
Darius Garland has not hit this number in 6 games. It sounds crazy to take an over on a bet with an 0/6 hit rate but I’m a believer in the due narrative and I’m a believer in positive vs defense. Utah allows the 3rd most points to point guards and Garland looked more aggressive last game shooting the ball 18 times.
I think the public money will be on the under here based on trends, but I think Utah will do everything in its power to stop Mitchell and it will leave Garland in favorable positions for easy buckets. Add this to the list of “this is either going to make me look very dumb or very smart” I have going. We have a decent track record with those so let's keep it that way and let's roll!
