For those without this market I arguably like o13.5 points for him just as much but slightly leaned this route for less blowout risk. John Collins has admittedly had a down year, the guy doesn’t completely look the same as he has in other seasons and his name is circulating in trade rumors for good reason. With that being said, this number is too low and in the last few games, he seems to have flipped the switch.
In the last two games, Collins has shot the ball 16 and 17 times. One game was with Trae Young and one was without but more importantly he seems more willing to shoot without Clint Capela out there. Without Capela we see Collins average two more field goal attempts a game and Onyeka Onyeka isn’t much of a scoring threat so it spreads the scoring distribution amongst the other starters.
In the last two games, we have seen Collins score five points against Indiana in the first quarter on two-of-five shooting and seven points against Brooklyn on three-of-four shooting but that was in just four and a half minutes. Collins had two quick fouls and still scored seven points. If he stays out of foul trouble against a Lakers team without Anthony Davis clogging the paint he should get two early buckets here.
