This number looks super intimidating but it’s not actually that bad. In Randle’s last five games, he has scored 13, 10, 13, 12, and 11 points in the first quarter. He is averaging 11.8 points per first quarter and doesn’t look like he'll slow down any time soon. He gets a matchup with the Spurs, the same team he just scored 13 first-quarter points on the 29th.
That game was no fluke as Randle went on to score 41 points that game. I like the first quarter only here because the spread leads me to think this game has blowout potential with New York favored by nearly double digits. With RJ Barrett remaining sidelined, I like Randle to keep chucking shots, and with his recent success from the free throw, this could only take four free shots made assuming he can get us two early deep balls.
San Antonio allows the third most points to power forwards and Randle has been on a tear. I don’t know who on San Antonio's team can match up with him physically, so I anticipate a ton of trips to the line and some free points coming his way. I know how intimidating this number looks, but Randle should play all 12 minutes of the first quarter assuming he stays out of foul trouble. This has hit in five straight games and this is a dream matchup, let's roll!
