New Orleans Pelicans vs. Brooklyn Nets Prediction

Brooklyn comes into play as one of the hottest teams in the NBA despite losing their last game to the Chicago Bulls. Prior to that loss, the Nets ripped off 12 wins in a row. That win streak sets them up well in the Eastern Conference, as they are currently the third-best team in the East. When you talk about star power, this team has a ton of it. They are led by a pair of superstars, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Not only are these guys outstanding players, but they have championship-level experience. Both Irving and Durant have championships to their credit. Nets fans are optimistic that they will add to that this year.

Brooklyn has not been able to string things together come playoffs in the last two years. There was a lot of talk in the off-season that they would completely blow this team up and start all over. They decided to give it another go, however, and so far, so good for the Nets.

New Orleans, meanwhile, has shown the NBA that winning a playoff series last year was no fluke. New Orleans has been without all-star Brandon Ingram for the last couple of weeks, and now it appears they will be without superstar Zion Williamson for the next few weeks. That means that they will lean on CJ McCollum and need their role players to step up. The Pels enter play playing to the tune of a 24-14 record, which is suitable for third best in the West.

I am backing the Nets tonight on the -4 spread. I think this will budge as the day goes on, as I expect this to be a public play. I have looked over the line a few times, and I just can not pass up on this short of a line for the Nets. Brooklyn is playing with something to prove this season, and I think that they bring that same intensity into the Smoothie King Center on Friday night. I simply do not believe that the Pelicans have enough offensive firepower to keep pace here without Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. I will trust the road team to take care of business tonight.
