Phoenix Suns vs. Miami Heat Prediction
The Suns come into this game representing a record of 20-19. That is a pretty disappointing record for a team that was slated to be one of the best in the West coming into the year.
Phoenix, who made the NBA Finals two seasons ago, was very optimistic about this team entering the year. The issue for the Suns has been staying healthy. Chris Paul missed a large part of the year early on, and now they have been without All-Star guard Devin Booker.
Another issue for the Suns is that they have been without some key role players this season. Jae Crowder has sat out this entire season due to contract negotiations. Phoenix has also been without Cam Johnson, who suffered an early season injury. The Suns' hope right now is to stick around until they get a fully healthy team.
Miami, meanwhile, has had early-season disappointments of its own. Miami has matched the Suns' record, sitting at 20-19 on the year. Similar to the Suns, the Heat were slated to be one of the best teams in their conference coming into the year. Miami most recently made the NBA Finals three years ago when they lost in the bubble to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Heat have been able to stay pretty healthy this season, but for whatever reason, they have not been able to string together wins. This is a talented bunch that should figure it out sooner than later, led by star guard Jimmy Butler. The Heat enter play tonight as a short road favorite.
This line reminds me a lot of the Celtics vs. Mavericks line from just a night ago. The fact that we see Miami as a road favorite here is a sign to me. Miami has struggled on the road at 9-11, while the Suns have been an outstanding home team at 14-5, yet we see the line the way it is. When it comes to the actual game, I think that the Heat will be able to take advantage of this shorthanded Suns team. I believe Miami will turn the corner sooner than later and it begins with a win tonight over the Suns.
