Nets vs. Celtics Prediction

This year, everything that needed to go right has gone right for Boston. This team won the Eastern Conference a season ago, and they feel as if they are the best team in the East again this year. This is a young team that is extremely talented and extremely deep.

Boston is led by star forward Jayson Tatum, who is having an MVP-caliber kind of season. Tatum comes into play averaging 30.8 points per game while shooting 47.2% from the floor. Jaylen Brown has also been great for Boston, and the role players for this team have looked better than role players this year.

Brooklyn, meanwhile, enters as the hottest team in the NBA. The Nets have lost just one game since November 25th. For reference, today is January 11th. They have been on a roll as of late, and their stellar play has moved them up to the number two team in the East. Despite the great run, Brooklyn got some bad news this week when it was announced that Kevin Durant would miss a month with an injury. This will be a tough hit for the Nets, but they feel as if they have enough depth to compete in his absence.

I am backing the Celtics on the short moneyline tonight. I want to start by saying I believe this line will move, and I would not play this over -170. Boston has been outstanding all season long, and it does not matter if they are playing at home or away. I think that this Nets team is due for some regression, and this feels like a good spot for them to cool off tonight. In the absence of KD, I will gladly fade the Nets tonight.
