Warriors vs. Nets Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and the Latest Odds

The Warriors host the Nets in a matchup between NBA Final hopefuls. Although the Warriors are only 23-23, they are the defending champs, and if they can get and stay healthy, they could get back there again. The Nets have looked good once again this season and were 27-13 before Kevin Durant went down. When the two met in the only other meeting this season, the Nets won in a blowout 143-113. However, in that game, Kevin Durant played for the Nets, and the Warriors were without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, or Draymond Green. All the Warriors I listed there are expected to play tonight, while the Nets will be without Kevin Durant. Can the Warriors get revenge?

Warriors vs. Nets Prediction

The Nets currently sit fourth in the eastern conference and trail the Celtics, 76ers, and Bucks. They could be as high as second, though, as Kevin Durant has now missed five games in a row, and the Nets are 1-4 in those games. Durant went down in the Net's win over the heat on January 8th, and he is expected to miss around a month of games. The Nets lost the first four games without Durant before beating the Jazz two days ago.

The Nets have a high-rated offense that was led by Durant's 29.7 points per game, which is a significant blow to the frontcourt. Irving is second in points per game on the team, so he will have to step up in Durant's absence, and he has, for the most part, but Durant left a large hole that is hard to fill. No other player besides Durant or Irving averages more than 13 points per game. The fourth-ranked defense by efficiency will have to step up while Durant is gone, and that is something they haven't been able to do consistently over the past five games. This task will be even harder against a Warriors team with all their highest scorers.

The Warriors return home after a surprising road win against the Cavaliers. The Warriors rested just about the entire team and still somehow won outright as significant underdogs. The game before that, the Warriors took the Celtics to overtime and lost 118-121. The Warriors looked really good on their five-game road trip, which was an area they struggled to start the season, but they have been consistently much better at home. At home, they are 17-5 straight up on the season. Outside of the leading scorers like Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, and Klay Thompson, Ty Jerome and Donte DiVincenzo have really stepped up off the bench to aid the offense.

The Warriors look like they are stumbling with a .500 record, but they have struggled to stay healthy, and they haven't played well on the road. With the Warriors at home and healthy, I expect the championship team that we saw last year to show up. The Nets blew the Warriors out at home last time, and I'm sure that is fresh on their minds for tonight's game, and now the Nets are down their leading scorer and offensive facilitator. The Nets are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games and have looked flat without Durant. I don't think the Net's offense can match the Warriors tonight, and I expect the Warriors to push the pace and outmatch the Nets. Kyrie Irving may drop 40, but it will not be enough. I'm on the Warriors at home.
