This is an emergency article, and I wanted to get this out soon as possible because the line is moving by the minute. We found out about an hour ago that star guard Kyrie Irving has requested a trade out of Brooklyn. Yes, this has happened before, and eventually, Irving decided to go back and play for the Nets, but this situation is a bit different. Brooklyn has a problem on their heads because if they hold onto Irving and try to make a run, he will likely walk for nothing in the off-season.

If they decide to move him, however, they could load up and add some draft stock and a couple of players to their roster. Irving is known for this kind of stuff, and I am taking a gamble that he lands on the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James basically runs the Lakers at the moment, and he wants to win now. James is at the back end of his career even though his numbers say otherwise, and his window is shortening to win a championship. I expect Los Angeles to be super aggressive over the next week and eventually land a deal to add Irving. 

I am taking the Lakers to win the West at +1600. Here is the thing with the Western Conference. It is wide open. The Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Kings are currently the top three teams, and I do not see any of them as legit title contenders. Dallas is fourth, and they do not have enough depth on that team to win a title, and then you get the Clippers and Warriors as you move down the list, who have not had great regular seasons, but I see them as threats to make a run. Then you have the Lakers, who are currently not in a play-in position. If the Lakers land Irving, they will become a top-three team in the West. Anthony Davis is having one of the best years of his career, and LBbron James has not lost a step. The value is too good not to get in on the action!
