It has been a forgettable week for the Memphis Grizzlies. Star player Ja Morant has taken time away from the team due to off-the-court issues, and it was revealed that one of their best bench players Brandon Clarke would have season-ending surgery. Dillon Brooks was also suspended for two games, and they are still without starting center Steven Adams. It will be interesting to see how the Grizzlies navigate the rest of the season.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, has taken in some tough news of their own. They will be without star LeBron James for at least the next two weeks, and guard D'Angelo Russell is questionable tonight with an injury. The Lakers come into this playing well despite the injuries. Los Angeles got a massive home win over the Warriors on Sunday, and they are hopeful that they can parlay that momentum into tonight’s game against the Grizzlies.
Every single game the rest of the season is significant for the Lakers as they come into this game as the 11th seed, but they have the same record as the Jazz and Blazers, who hold tie-breakers over them at the moment. If they win this game tonight and get a loss from the Jazz, the Lakers will be in the play-in tournament at the end of the night.
I am backing the Grizzlies on the moneyline tonight. The fact that this line is so short despite everything the Grizzlies are going through makes me love them in this spot tonight. Memphis looked pretty good on Sunday night against the LA Clippers despite being short-handed.
Tyus Jones played very well on Sunday, and I trust that he and Desmond Bane can lead the charge for the Grizz tonight. The Lakers are limited from an offensive standpoint without LeBron and likely Russell. I believe that the Grizz matchup very well tonight with the Lakers, and they will pull off a much-needed road win.
