The fact that the Thunder are in this game is a heck of an accomplishment in itself. This Thunder team was slated to be one of the worst teams in the NBA, but their young talent has shown out this season, and they find themselves with an opportunity to get to the playoffs. The star of this Thunder team is point guard Shai Gilgeous- Alexander.
The Kentucky alumn turned in a career year and proved to the league that he is one of the best scorers in basketball. SGA ended the year averaging 31.4 points per game. The Thunder will add Chet Holmgren to this roster next year, which is a scary sight.
The Pelicans, meanwhile, were disappointed with their regular season after making some noise in the playoffs a season ago. The downfall for this Pelicans team was the injury of Zion Williamson. Zion was injured for the playoff run last year, and it does not appear to be healthy for this playoff run, either.
That will force Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum to take over and dominate for this Pelicans team. These two teams played four times during the regular season, and New Orleans won three of them. The Thunder, however, went 4-0 ATS against the Pelicans in those games.
The spread here is a tough call, so I’m going to drop a prop lock for us tonight. We went 3-0 on props yesterday, and I found an easy winner for tonight. We are going to turn to the services of big man Jonas Valanciunas and take his over, which is sitting at 13.5. In my opinion, this is the most favorable matchup that the Pelicans have.
