Betting on the NBA Draft is tricky, but I’ve had solid success capping it in the past. There is one player in particular who I am targeting to get picked a little earlier than most are predicting…
2023 NBA Draft Prediction
We haven’t heard much about Bilal Coulibaly, the 6’8” small forward from France. The 19-year-old has been overshadowed by teammate Victor Wembanyama, who is essentially a lock to be the first overall pick. There are rumors floating around that Wembanyama has already requested the San Antonio Spurs to move up and draft Coulibaly with another lottery pick.
There are many teams in the top ten who are rumored to be shopping their draft pick, including the Wizards, with the eighth pick. The Wizards just finished clearing house, trading all their stars away for tradeable veterans and draft picks. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Wizards draft Coulibaly with the eighth pick, considering his high upside at the young age of 19. Washington has been known to draft plenty of overseas players in the first round, and although it hasn’t panned out, it wouldn’t shock me if they run it back with Coulibaly.
There’s a strong chance that Washington will trade away their first-round pick to a team like the Spurs. If they are able to flip their pick for a couple of future first-rounders, many teams are rumored to be interested in Caulibaly. The Orlando Magic could also very well trade away one of their lottery picks to a team eager to take a chance on the small forward from France.
The odds are only getting juicier for Coulibaly’s u11.5 draft position. He is now currently (-130) to the under on this prop, which correlates directly with the recent rumors of him going into the top ten and picking up steam. If you’re looking for a value play, take Coulibaly to be the eighth pick in the draft at (+1000). There’s a strong chance the Wizards either draft him or trade the pick away to a team who will. Wemby’s teammate is currently (+160) to be selected in the top ten if you’re looking for a happy medium between the two. Either way, I don’t see Coulibaly getting selected any higher than the eleventh pick in the draft.
