ANALYSIS

Indiana Pacers vs. Washington Wizards Prop Picks: Can Bruce Brown, Daniel Gafford Contribute to Record Total?

Right after the Bucks and Pacers made history for the highest pre-game total in history with a total of 258 on their game on Wednesday, the Pacers and Wizards broke that record with a total set at 260.5 tonight.

The Pacers and Wizards both play with a very fast offensive style. The Pacers rank first in pace of play, while the Wizards rank second. The Pacers also are rated as the most efficient offense. The Wizards also rank dead last in defensive rating, while the Pacers and 28th. It's not hard to see how we got to a record-setting total of 260.5. With a high-scoring, fast-paced game expected tonight, it only makes sense that we lock in a few props on overs. I have one from each team.

Indiana Pacers vs. Washington Wizards Prop Picks

Bruce Brown Over 12.5 Points (-105) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

I'm not going with any of the "higher" scorers tonight, like Haliburton, Turner, Kuzma, or Poole. Their point totals are already so high, and while it should be a high-scoring game, overs are scary when they get that high because the player still has to shoot really well to pass it. I just don't like 'em. So I'm going to Bruce Brown of the Pacers.

Brown has started every game and gets 31.9 minutes per game on average this season, which is only lower than one other person on the team...Haliburton. He plays heavy minutes and is a starter, yet his total is at 12.5 points. He averages 12.3 points per game on the season, but his average points is up to 14.6 points in December from 10.9 in November. He has shot poorly over his last few games, but this is a perfect game for a bounce back. He has an excellent matchup against a poor Wizards' defense that also gives up the most points to small forwards per game in the NBA at 26 points. Brown could hit half of that and still pass his line.

Daniel Gafford Over 10.5 Points (-118) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

The player I'm going to for the Wizards is Daniel Gafford. Like Brown, Gafford has started every game he has been healthy for the Wizards. He is averaging 24.8 minutes per game, and his scoring has been ticking up. He averaged eight points per game in October, 9.5 points per game in November, and is now up to 13 points per game in December.

He has passed this line in three of his four games in December, and he, like Brown, has an excellent matchup against the Pacers. Myles Turner is a horrible defender, one of the worst center defenders in the league. As a result, the Pacers are giving up the fourth-most points to centers per game with 25.16. Gafford takes a lot of his shots from under the rim, so he does not miss a lot. He is shooting 69.7% on the season, which is the highest on the team. He can easily get 11 points on this poor Pacers defense.
