This is a market we are 1-0 on this year, thanks to Jalen Duren. First quarter markets are fun because you can avoid blowouts. We normally go for points, but today our attention is on early rebounds. Can Clint Capela start off the game hot on the glass?
Capela is such an interesting talent. No matter what your view on him is, you have to admit he makes the most of his minutes rebounding the ball. He plays less than 26 minutes a night, but still finds a way to average 10.4 rebounds, honestly that’s pretty amazing efficiency. In first quarters, he averages 7.5 minutes a game and 3.0 rebounds.
Tonight against the Lakers, I expect him to get at least three in the opening quarter. No Anthony Davis is a good thing, because that reduces Capela's chance at foul trouble. Capela has hit this in five of his last six games while averaging 4.8 rebounds per first quarter in that stretch. Lakers allow the eighth-most rebounds to bigs, and the one game Christian Wood started this year, he played 10 minutes in the opening quarter. I think Lakers have some tougher looks while short handed, and will lead to misses for Capela to grab. Let's roll!
