The Atlanta Hawks travel to Charlotte tonight to take on the Hornets. The Hawks had a two-game win streak snapped in their last game against the Bulls as they lost 136–126. The Hawks sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 24–30 and will have to pick it up if they want to keep their spot in the play-in tournament at the end of the season. The Hornets are currently sitting in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 12–41 and have really struggled this year. However, the Hornets have won two games in a row, beating the Pacers and Grizzlies over their last two contests. They now have a chance to win three games in a row for the first time this season tonight. What should we expect in this game?

The player I'm targeting in tonight’s game is Brandon Miller. The electric rookie was taken second overall in last year‘s draft by the Hornets and has stepped it up lately in his rookie season. Miller is averaging 16.4 points per game with 4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He has taken a much larger role in this offense as of late. The Hornets traded away Terry Rozier and PJ Washington, which means with LaMelo Ball out with an injury still, Miles Bridges and Brandon Miller have carried the weight of the offense. So far in February, Miles Bridges leads a team of 24.3 points per game, and Brandon Miller is just behind him with 23.1 points per game in the month. They are combining for 47 points per game in February, while new acquisition Grant Williams is just behind them with 18 points per game. Brandon Miller’s points line tonight is 19.5. I think Brandon Miller is more than capable of hitting 20 points in this spot, as he has done so frequently with LaMelo Ball out of the lineup. This is also a great spot to do so against a Hawks team that plays no defense, and plays at a frantic pace. The Hawks ranked third in pace in the NBA, and that combined with their 28th-ranked defensive, make a great matchup for anyone looking to score points against them. With Brandon Miller coming off a somewhat slow game against the Pacers, I expect him to bounce back tonight against the Hawks. This is an excellent matchup against a very bad defensive team and this should be a high-paced game. He only played 29 minutes last game against the Pacers because of foul trouble, but he has been averaging in the high 30s with LaMelo Ball out of the lineup.
