The NBA All-Star Break is this weekend, but there are still a handful of games to be played before we officially wrap up the first half of the season. Tonight, the Timberwolves take on the Trailblazers in Portland for the second game in a row. Will the Blazers show some heart and keep their last game before the break close, or will Minnesota blow them out for the second straight game?

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Portland Trail Blazers Prediction
I found it a little surprising to see the Timberwolves as a single-digit favorite on the spread after beating Portland with ease on Tuesday. I was at least expecting a 10.5-point spread, but after covering the 8.5-point spread on Tuesday, Minnesota is only 9-point favorites on the spread for round two.
Maybe the oddsmakers are expecting Minnesota to be looking-ahead at the All-Star Break. Both Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns will be playing in the game on Sunday, and in some of the challenges this weekend. With a matchup against one of the worst teams in the league that they just beat two nights ago, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Trail Blazers catch them sleeping in tonight’s contest.
Anthony Edwards is a little banged-up, but it’s looking like he’s going to play after making shoot-around earlier today. Either way, I’d be surprised if the All-Star gives it his all tonight, with the weekend festivities so close. He’s also coming off a 41-piece against Portland on Tuesday. Again, this is a massive let-down spot for the Timberwolves before the break.
The splits on the Trail Blazers are sharp (on VSIN), with less than 20% of the bets but more than 28% of the handle backing Portland on both the spread and moneyline. There aren’t many wagers coming in on Portland, but the few bets being placed are large. We want to be on the sharp side with these bettors tonight…
Tonight is the last chance for this struggling Portland team to build some confidence before nearly a week off. I’m sure they are looking forward to the time off, but I’d be willing to bet the young Trail Blazers are going be the more motivated team tonight on their home floor. This young team is still trying to prove themselves and cement their spot in this league. Back the Blazers at home to keep this one within the number; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
