This is a battle between the bookends of playoff teams, as the Thunder enter this game first overall in the Western Conference with a record of 42–18, while the Lakers come in, holding the last potential playoff spot sitting in 10th place in the conference with a record of 33–29. The Thunder are coming off of a thrilling win over the Phoenix Suns last night, beating them 118–110 on the road. The Lakers are coming off a loss on Saturday against the Nuggets, a game they dropped 114–124 at home when LeBron passed 40,000 points in his career. What should we expect in this game?

The player I love in this matchup is Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis and LeBron James have been at the forefront of this offense as expected this season, as James barely edges out Davis in scoring the season with 25.3 points per game, while Davis has 25.0 points per game. However, Anthony Davis has the highest points + rebounds + assists (PRA) on the team with 40.9 on average per game. His line tonight is 42.5 PRA, a line I think he can easily pass against the Thunder. For starters, Anthony Davis has hit this in all three games he has played against the Thunder this season. He has had at least 44 PRA in all three matchups this season, and in 4/5 dating back to last season. Part of the reason for this is the matchup against the porous paint defense for the Thunder. With Chet Holmgren serving as the big in the starting rotation for the Thunder, they do not have a lot of answers for Anthony Davis down low. Therefore, Davis has had a very successful season against the Thunder, posting lines of 27 points, 26 points, and 31 points. Additionally, the Thunder allow the second most assists to centers in the league, and the third most rebounds per game to centers. Given Anthony Davis's success against the Thunder this season in hitting this line in all three games, I love him to do it for a fourth time. The matchup is perfect for a player like Anthony Davis in this situation, and I believe he will be hungry coming off that loss against the Nuggets.
