Orlando Magic vs. Washington Wizards Betting Picks: Should You Back Jordan Poole, Wizards?
Don’t let Jordan Poole get hot, it might be too late! Since the Washington Wizards young star started coming off the bench in the second half of the season, he’s regained his confidence. He’s dropped 30+ points in three of his last six games, carrying this Wizards offense. Poole might be playing much better of late, but that hasn’t exactly translated to wins for the Wizards. I’m sensing a much-needed win for the Washington on their home floor tonight…

ORLANDO MAGIC VS. WASHINGTON WIZARDS PREDICTION
We can’t let it go unmentioned that the Wizards have lost 15 straight games. They haven’t won a home game since December 29th, more than three months ago. (I’ve written a lot of articles, and that is the craziest stat I have ever pulled) The Wizards will be without their starting center. They are already short on big bodies in the paint. We’re going to see a lot of Kyle Kuzma down low, which sounds scarier than it is.
The Magic aren’t the biggest team around, and they are coming off a game last night in Charlotte. The Wizards are fresh off a day’s rest, and have looked way more competitive in recent games. Jordan Poole has looked like a completely different player after the All Star Break, and Tyus Jones has been a dimer. He’s dropped 9+ assists in eight of his last ten games. Kyle Kuzma has been the consistent piece of this offense all season, and the Wizards young players like Corey Kispert and Deni Avdija are playing the best basketball of their careers.
I’m not just trying to say the Wizards are due, but that doesn’t hurt the cause. They literally haven’t won a home game in 2024, and with only nine wins on the season, I’m sure Kuzma and Poole will want to show-out with Gilbert Arenas in attendance. It’s actually Gilbert Arenas night at Capital One Arena tonight, so there might actually be some life inside of Capital One Arena for a Wizards game for the first time in a while.
I love the way this Wizards offense has looked post-All Star Break, and with the Magic playing in back-to-back nights, Washington has an opportunity to not only cover tonight, but steal one. When Marvin Bagley got ruled out earlier this afternoon, the line didn’t even budge. In my opinion, the Wizards spread looks extremely short. They’ve been getting more than ten points on the spread for the majority of the season, but oddsmakers seem to be seeing the same things I am: although they haven’t ended the streak, the Wizards are playing their best basketball of the season right now.
The Magic are on a four-game win and ATS streak. This might be the nastiest bet of the night tonight, and that’s exactly the type of play I want to be on. More than 70% of the bets and handle (on VSIN) are currently backing the Magic to cover tonight, and every square around town has Orlando in their parlays tonight. Fade the public, and back the Wizards to not only cover tonight, but get their first win of the new year.
