Indiana Pacers vs. Milwaukee Bucks Prediction: Can Tyrese Haliburton, Pacers Find Their Offense in Game 2?

The Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks square off in Game 2 of the first round of the NBA playoffs tonight from the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. The Bucks took Game 1 despite being without their superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Pacers struggled offensively and ultimately fell 109–94. With Giannis looking doubtful to play for Game 2, can Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers bounce back and even the series?

INDIANA PACERS VS. MILWAUKEE BUCKS PREDICTION

The one thing we did not see in Game 1 was good offense. the Pacers shot just 39% from the field and 21% from three, going 8–38 from beyond the arc. The Pacers also shot 66% on 21 free throws.

While the Bucks had a better time offensively, this game still failed barely clear 200 points, with a final total of 203. The total in Game 1 was 230, and as a result of that low-scoring affair on Sunday, the total for this game has dropped to 223.5. That is a drastically lower total than we saw between these two teams during the regular season. The Bucks and Pacers set record-setting totals during the regular season, as they met five times total. The highest total during the regular season was on January 1st, when the Pacers played on the road against the Bucks and the total closed at 262 points. This was the highest total ever recorded in NBA history, and while the game went under, it still had 235 points.

Most of the Pacers and Bucks games had totals in the mid-250s and even the low 260s, so the fact that we are seeing 223.5 between these two teams is frankly insane. I think this is an over-adjustment to Game 1, along with all the unders we have seen league-wide to start the playoffs.

Both of these teams are offensive-minded. The Pacers ranked number one in the NBA in field goal percentage and number one overall in points scored per game with 122.8. The Bucks offense is not far behind at fourth in points per game and seventh in field goal percentage.

Neither team was a defensive powerhouse either during this season, as the Pacers ranked 24th in defensive rating and the Bucks ranked 19th. Both teams also prefer a faster pace, as the Pacers ranked second in pace in the NBA this season and the Bucks ranked eighth. I’m not scared of taking this over in Game 2 even after how Game 1 went. These two teams had electric, high-flying games all season every time they met and I expect a big bounce back from the Pacers in Game 2. This line is an overreaction and Game 2 should go over tonight.
