The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics meet for Game 2 tonight. Can Bam Adebayo crash the boards in Game 2? Ben Rajavuori shares his Heat vs. Celtics prop pick.
ANALYSIS

Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics Prop Pick: Will Bam Adebayo Crash the Boards in Game 2?

The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics meet for Game 2 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs from TD Garden in Boston tonight. The Celtics took Game 1 convincingly, winning by 20 points with the final score of 114–94. The Heat seemed to miss Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier quite a bit in Game 1, putting up just 94 points, and the bad news is that neither will play for Game 2 either. What should we expect in tonight’s game without these two?

MIAMI HEAT VS. BOSTON CELTICS PREDICTION

Bam Adebayo had a pretty productive Game 1, shooting 10–18 from the field with 24 points overall. However, while he was an effective scorer, he did not fill the stat sheet in the rebounds and assists department. Bam recorded just six rebounds in Game 1, a trend I like to continue in game two for a few reasons. The Celtics characteristically shot a ridiculous 49 shots from deep in Game 1. They were letting threes fly all night and hit at a 45% clip overall. This is very on-brand for the Celtics this season, as their offense ranked first in three-point attempts in the NBA and second in three-point percentage this season. The use of the three-ball from the Celtics forced long rebounds for the heat, leading to low rebound production from center Bam Adebayo, who usually gets his rebounds underneath the basket. Given how successful the three-ball was for the Celtics in Game 1, I think they will go back to the same game plan and attempt a lot of threes in game two. This is very on-brand for them and it is how their offense has been so successful all season. This style of play will not leave a ton of opportunities for rebounds for Adebayo. These numbers hold true when you look at their head-to-head meetings.

Adebayo hit more than 9.5 rebounds in just one of four meetings against the Celtics this season. This includes the six he had in Game 1. He has only hit 10 rebounds in five of the last 15 games against the Celtics over the last two seasons. This may look like an appealing prop because Jimmy Butler is out, but the style of play from the Celtics just does not favor someone like Bam getting a lot of rebounds. Centers were held to the fourth-lowest rebounds against the Celtics this season, and I like this trend to continue for Game 2. Bam under 9.5 rebounds tonight.
