If you listen to the general consensus for this upcoming series between Dallas and Minnesota, you’d think the Timberwolves already advanced to the NBA Finals. Nobody believes in this Mavericks team, especially in the first game of this series. They’ve flopped in Game 1 of their first two playoff series'… will the Mavericks show up for Game 1 in Minnesota on Wednesday?

To be fair, the Mavericks have looked unprepared in the first game of each playoff series so far. This is exactly when I want to buy-low on Coach Kidd and the Mavs. The public narrative of Dallas entering each series unprepared had to of been addressed at some point before this series. I’m expecting Luka and the Mavs to get out to a great start on the road in Game 1 tonight.
Dallas has played well on the road in the playoffs so far. Looking at the spread, I was expecting Dallas to be getting more points in this game. If oddsmakers were expecting another game one dud from the Mavericks, they wouldn’t have made them this short of an underdog on the road on Wednesday. The betting splits look solid too, with more than 60% of bets and handle currently backing Minnesota on both the spread and moneyline (on VSIN).
Nobody wants to fade the Timberwolves after they just knocked-off the best team in the West, but that’s exactly the type of bet we want to lock in. Fade the public and back Luka, Kyrie, and the Mavericks to show up for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. With everyone doubting them, I like the Mavs chances of shocking the world and either winning this game outright, or at least keeping it within the number.
