This Weekend's Best Bets: The Five Best Bets for the Weekend Ahead
There's nothing better than watching Olympic Basketball and UFC over the weekend. Here are some of the best bets you'll want to consider for some of the most exciting events.
Favorite 5 Weekend Picks
Olympics Men's Basketball: Spain vs. Canada Under 169 (-110) ($110 to collect $210)
Friday, August 2, 11:15 AM ET
Although Canada has won two consecutive games to begin the Olympics, it's a bit deflating to see RJ Barrett leading the team in points. It's hard to imagine Barrett sustains this success. I also don't like the fact that he's taken more shots than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
In addition, Jamal Murray has been silent off the bench. Ultimately, the Canada bench hasn't produced as some would've expected.
Meanwhile, Spain is led by Santi Aldama. He's been terrific for Spain, but the rest of the starting lineup hasn't produced very much, either.
Therefore, we'll take the Under 169.
Olympics Men's Basketball: USA vs. Puerto Rico: USA -32.5 (-110) (Bet $110 to collect $210)
Saturday, August 3, 11:15 AM ET
The USA didn't even beat South Sudan by 20 points in its last game. But Puerto Rico is currently 0-2 and will be the easiest opponent for the USA in Group Stage play. Puerto Rico scored just 66 points against Serbia in a 107-66 final. Jose Alverado and Tremont Waters, who were projected to be Puerto Rico's two best players, combined for just seven points in the loss. The United States should take care of business rather easily.
Olympics Men's Basketball: South Sudan vs. Serbia: South Sudan +14.5 (-110) (Bet $110 to collect $210)
Saturday, August 3, 3:00 PM ET
Nikola Jokic came within an assist away from earning a triple-double in the Olympics against Puerto Rico.
That would've been insane. Jokic was one of seven players in double figures against Puerto Rico, but it's unlikely this happened against South Sudan.
South Sudan doesn't have the most appealing roster. But they've played well enough together to keep things at least close. South Sudan was a 30-point or more underdog to the United States twice and covered both spreads rather easily.
South Sudan is no piece of cake. They'll likely lose, but at least keep it close against Serbia.
UFC Fight Night: Michael Chiesa vs. Tony Ferguson Over 2.5 Rounds (-118) (Bet $118 to collect $218)
Saturday, August 3 - Approx 4:15 PM ET
Tony Ferguson's best days are behind him. He's 0-7 in the last seven fights and certainly doesn't have the ability to earn a finish anymore.
Meanwhile, Michael Chiesa is also past his prime. Chiesa is a really good grappler. So, hopefully, he'll use his good grappling to keep the clock moving. Don't expect any crazy finishes between these two.
UFC Fight Night: Marlon Vera (+120) (Bet $100 to collect $220)
Saturday, August 3 Approx 4:45 PM ET
Marlon Vera is still ranked ahead of Deiveson Figueiredo in the bantamweight rankings. While Vera was dominated by Sean O'Malley last time out, he's had some time to reflect and prepare for his next fight against Figueiredo.
Figueiredo has had much more recent success. But tactically, Vera has a three-inch height advantage and a two-inch reach advantage. Vera also lands more significant strikes per minute and has better takedown defense overall.
At +120, take a chance with Vera to earn the upset.
