We have the NBA Cup back for tonight and there is a nice-looking slate of games for it. I have a play that I found that I really like and it's for the late slate. I am going to be looking at the matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz. I want to target Anthony Davis in this matchup and I like him to go over 8.5 1st Quarter Points. Let me dive into why I like this play a ton.

Los Angeles Lakers vs Utah Jazz Prediction
Anthony Davis has scored 9 or more points in the first quarter in 8 of his last 10 games averaging 10.8 Points on 6.2 field goal attempts. The two misses were in tough matchups vs the Grizzlies and Cavs who have solid interior defenses. The Jazz, on the other hand, present an A+ matchup for Davis as they have allowed the 2nd most points and the 4th highest field goal percentage to opposing centers this season. Their defense takes a big hit as they will still be without Walker Kessler in this one, which is huge. Additionally, the Jazz are allowing the highest points per possession to pick-and-roll roll men at 1.32 PPP. This works out perfectly for Davis and the Lakers as they rank 4th best in points per possession to pick-and-roll roll men at 1.19 PPP.
The matchup is great as I touched on above, and I do expect him to go over his points line at 28.5 as well, but I do think there is some blowout risk as the spread is 11.5 in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers, who are playing at home. It is a cup game where point differential matters so maybe that isn't the case but Davis does a lot of his scoring in the 1st quarter as well and the Lakers really look to get him involved early. He should play 11 or 12 minutes here unless he finds himself in foul trouble. I think he has a huge first quarter and huge game overall which is why I am loving this play. Let's cash this one!
