4 minNBA Parlay Picks Today: Can Trae Young, Tyrese Maxey Catch Fire on Tuesday, January 28th?
We have a smaller NBA slate today consisting of four games, and I am back with another SGP+ that I have put together for it that I am really liking. I'm going to be aiming for more of a longshot tonight, and think this has a real shot of hitting if Trae Young plays, which he may not. I am expecting him to, but if he doesn't, then that leg will void. I am going to go through each leg of the parlay and explain my reasoning behind it.

NBA Parlay Picks Today - Tuesday, January 28th
Leg 1: Trae Young 4+ Threes
The first leg of the SGP+ is Trae Young for 4 or more threes. The main reason I like this play is due to Houston and how they defend. They do not help off shooters much and because of it, they don't allow many catch and shoot 3s. This shouldn't effect Trae Young too much as he takes most of his 3s as pullup 3s and typically creates his own shot. Because Houston defends this way, they are allow more pullup 3s. On the season, they have allowed the Most pullup threes and they also have allowed the most over the past 10 games, so it has been fairly consistent. Trae Young has taken the 6th most pullup 3s this season. He may have the Amen Thompson matchup which is less than ideal, but I do expect him to see some volume from 3. He has taken 8 or more 3s in 4 straight matchup vs Houston and I expect the same here tonight. Recent point guards have seen success in this matchup - Jrue Holiday 2, Darius Garland 4 and 3, Cade Cunningham 3, Anfernee Simons 3, Scoot Henderson 3, Jamal Murray 4, and Ja Morant 4.
Leg 2: Tyrese Maxey 5+ Threes
The next leg I have added to the parlay is for Tyrese Maxey to hit five or more threes. The Philadelphia 76ers are without Joel Embiid and Paul George for this game, which means that Tyrese Maxey will continue to have absurd usage, and he may even get up to 40 minutes like he has done a good bit as of late. Over his last four games, he has taken 13, 8, 10 and 15 three point attempts. In his last three games without both Embiid and George, Maxey has taken 14 or more 3-point attempts twice, and I think his ceiling is just as high tonight. I expect Maxey to take a ton of 3's in this spot vs. the Lakers. This LA team has allowed the highest pull-up three-point frequency percentage and 3 point attempts over the past 10 games, which is what you like to see with a player like Maxey who has attempted the 7th-most pull-up 3's in the NBA.
We've seen similar players have success from three-point range vs. the Lakers as of late:
- LaMelo Ball - 2 (only played 9 minutes before leaving injured)
- Jordan Poole - 4
- James Harden - 4
- D'Angelo Russell - 5
- Tyler Herro - 7
Leg 3: Eric Gordon 2+ Assists
The last leg I am adding to the parlay is Eric Gordon to get us two or more assists. The FanDuel boost requires three legs, so I needed one more leg to complete the trio. In these situations I try to find a leg that is somewhat correlated, that doesn't lower the odds to the parlay. This was my favorite leg I found that accomplished just that. Eric Gordon should see close to 30 minutes tonight. He has two or more assists in six straight games, seeing five or more potentials in four of the last five games. The Lakers are a solid assists matchup as well, so I think Gordon will be able to hit this number fairly easily, and hopefully it comes with a Maxey three-pointer or two!
