NBA Wednesday Prop Picks: Targeting Dejounte Murray, Ausar Thompson, More in NBA Defense Props Today

We have a loaded Wednesday NBA slate with a lot of nice looking games, and I am back with some more NBA player props to target. I have been having a ton of success with defensive props this past month, and I am here to highlight three different props I'm really liking for today! Each one is plus money at the time of publishing this. I'm going to go over all plays below, and explain why I'm targeting the prop!

NBA Wednesday Prop Picks - January 29th

The first prop I am looking it comes in the Detroit Pistons vs Indiana Pacers game. I like Ausar Thompson for at least one block tonight in a matchup, which I think is great for him. Ausar has recorded a block in five of his last six games overall, and in four of five career games vs. this Indiana team (seven total). Indiana has allowed the second-most blocks to his position this season as well. I love the odds here, and think it's a great bet for tonight!

The second defensive prop to target tonight is Nickeil Alexander-Walker to record 1+ steals. With Donte DiVincenzo out, NAW has seen his playing time increase and be more consistent. Despite this bump in playing time, he has not recorded a steal in 11 of his last 12 games, which doesn't really add up. NAW is a great defender and has a steal in 43% of games this season with 19+ minutes (Last season he had a 50% hit rate with 19+ minutes). With the bump in minutes, his steals hit rate doesn't really add up, and I think some positive regression is coming for NAW here. Alexander-Walker usually sees an increase in minutes vs. this Suns team, as his on ball defense is needed to help defend Bradley Beal and Devin Booker. He has recorded a steal in five of his last seven games vs. the Suns, and in seven of the last 11 games vs. the Suns with 11+ minutes played.

The last defensive prop I have my eyes on is Dejounte Murray 2+ steals. We know that home statkeepers tend to give more favorable results to their players when it comes to defensive stats, and that really seems to show with Dejounte Murray. He has 2+ steals in nine of his last 10 home games, with 3+ steals in seven of the last 10 games. He was able to get two steals in the prior matchup with Dallas just a few weeks ago, and this Dallas team has been prone to allowing steals over the last month or so. I really like the spot and value here!
