Rockets vs. Warriors Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest NBA Playoffs Odds for Game 4

The Golden State Warriors won Game 3, a home game against the Houston Rockets, despite Jimmy Butler's absence.

Butler endured a pelvic contusion in Game 2 and missed Game 3, but is a game-time decision for Game 4 tonight. Ultimately, head coach Steve Kerr sounded optimistic that Butler could be back for this game.

While the Warriors haven't been perfect offensively, the Rockets have been way worse. Houston has scored no more than 93 points in two of the first three games in this series. In the series, the Rockets have shot just 41.3% from the field and made only 64.1% of their free throws. Alperen Sengun has carried the Rockets, but he's certainly not getting enough help.

That said, the Rockets are the No. 2 seed and were one of the best teams in the Western Conference this season. They'll be prepared and ready to go in Game 4. Houston's shooting probably can't get much worse at this point.

Does that mean the Rockets have a chance tonight?

Rockets vs. Warriors Prediction

The Houston Rockets must shoot better, especially on the road, if they want a chance tonight. In the playoffs, the Rockets have shot just a 48.8% effective field goal percentage, which is way below average.

That said, Houston has added 36.8% of offensive rebounds. The Rockets are aggressive on the glass and get many more second-chance opportunities.

That type of play has worked all year, mainly because Houston's defense has been admirable. However, the Rockets have turned the ball over 16% of the time in this postseason series. That number needs to drop so that the Rockets can get more shots up and earn more second chances on the glass.

Houston was never a terrific shooting team, but the Rockets did the little things to outlast their opponents.

Meanwhile, the Rockets have limited the Warriors to a 52.7% effective field goal percentage. Golden State has and should still outshoot the Rockets. However, Golden State has grabbed only 22.1% of offensive rebounds against the Rockets.

The Rockets have been much better on the glass and have held the Warriors to a very good 13.6 free-throw rate.

After all, the Warriors have added just 105.5 points per 100 possessions against Houston in this series. That's not very good.

Therefore, if the Rockets can limit turnovers and shoot slightly better from the field, Houston should be able to escape with a win and tie up the series at two. Let's ride with the Rockets at +145.
