Rockets vs. Warriors Prediction: Can Jimmy Butler Step Up in Game 6?

The Rockets kept their season alive in Game 5 with a dominating win over Golden State. Houston led by 27 at the half and the Warriors pulled their starters midway through the third quarter. The Warriors’ reserves made a comeback and the Rockets starters had to come back in the game in the fourth quarter in a 15-point win.

Houston has stayed competitive with the Warriors in every game, and poor free throw shooting has been an issue in some of the losses. Game 6 goes back to Golden State and if the Warriors win, they will advance to the conference semifinals against Minnesota.

Rockets vs. Warriors Prediction for Game 6

In betting, convenient amnesia is needed. Too often people look at the last game and it scares them off. Context is always needed. There isn’t much to take away from Game 5 for the Warriors. The Rockets came out in a frenzy as if they loaded up on gallons of caffeine and took it to Golden State with great defense and hit almost every shot they threw up.

Midway through the second quarter, the Warriors trailed 55-32. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr asked Draymond Green at halftime how much longer he should give the starters to start the second half and Green said five minutes. Butler played 25 minutes and shot 2-for-10 from the field. That’s not Playoff Jimmy.

Butler only played eight minutes in Game 2 with a pelvic contusion and sat in Game 3. Butler scored 25 points in Game 1, shooting 10-for-19 from the field in 42 minutes. In Game 4, Butler scored 27 points and went to the free throw line 12 times and hit all of them. Butler has scored at least 24 points in the last five games, in which he has played at least 28 minutes.

With an opportunity to end the series and prevent a Game 7 in Houston, Butler will likely play around 40 minutes and a veteran like Butler knows avoiding a road Game 7 is crucial. Kerr said after Game 5 that Butler got lost in the shuffle, and you have to get Butler the ball more. The Warriors could rely on Butler more with Stephen Curry dealing with a right thumb injury. Curry is 5-for-17 from three-point range over the last two games.
