Warriors vs. Timberwolves Prediction: Can Naz Reid Get Minnesota Back on Track in Thursday's Game 2?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are desperate for a bounce back against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night, as they attempt to avoid going down 0-2 like the Celtics. Can Naz Reid propel the T-Wolves back to even with a strong shooting night? Adam Ronis is back with his top prop pick in Warriors vs. Timberwolves Game 2.

Warriors vs. Timberwolves Prediction: Can Naz Reid Get Minnesota Back on Track in Thursday's Game 2?

The series couldn’t have started any worse for Minnesota in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs. Steph Curry got off to a hot start for Golden State with 13 points in 13 minutes before leaving with a hamstring injury, but now he’s out for Game 2 and likely longer.

The Timberwolves couldn’t take advantage and lost Game 1, 99-88. Minnesota shot 39.5% from the field, including 5-for-29 (17.2%) from three-point range. The Timberwolves missed all 15 attempts from beyond the arc in the first half. They had a playoff-high 16 turnovers. Minnesota aims to even the series in Game 2 on Thursday night.

Warriors vs. Timberwolves Game 2 Prediction

One of the few bright spots for Minnesota in Game 1 was Naz Reid. He has a history of success against Golden State. The matchup is favorable for Reid with the Warriors going small.

Reid was one of two players on the team to shoot at least 50% from the field on Tuesday. He shot 8-for-14 from the field, going 3-for-7 from three and played 34 minutes coming off the bench. Reid left the game late in the first half and limped to the locker room, but came back out for the second half.

In the regular season against the Warriors, Reid had 15 points in 29 minutes, 16 points in 25 minutes, 10 points in 21 minutes and nine points in 32 minutes. In the last 10 games against the Warriors, Reid is averaging 16.2 points per game. In that span, Reid has scored at least 20 points four times and at least 15 points six times.

It’s clear the Timberwolves want Reid on the floor in this series with 34 minutes in the first game. If he’s going to be on the court that much, there’s a high chance he goes over his points prop. Against the Lakers in round one, Reid played more than 30 minutes once and scored 23 points in 31 minutes.

Three-point shooting has been a problem for the Timberwolves over the last two games. They have shot 12-for-76 (15.7%). In the six postseason games, Reid has been the most efficient on the team from beyond the arc, shooting 48.3% from three. Reid was third on the team in scoring in the regular season, averaging 14.2 points per game and shot 37.9% from three.
