Timberwolves vs. Thunder Prediction, Best Bet, Latest NBA Odds for Western Conference Finals Game 1

The Thunder don’t have much time to rest after finishing off Denver in a tough seven-game series in the second round of the Western Conference finals. Oklahoma City won Game 7, 125-93, on Sunday and has a quick turnaround in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals Tuesday night. Minnesota, who has been off since Wednesday, hasn’t been tested in the postseason yet.

The Timberwolves beat the Lakers in five games in round one and eliminated the Warriors in five games in the last round. Stephen Curry injured his hamstring in Game 2 and the Warriors struggled to find offense. Minnesota reached the conference finals last season and lost to Dallas. Oklahoma City is making its first appearance since 2016.

Timberwolves vs. Thunder Prediction

Anthony Edwards needs to do a lot to give Minnesota a chance. It’s not only his scoring, which has been difficult for him against a great Thunder defense. Edwards faced the Thunder four times this season and scored 20, 29, 17 and 23 points. In those games, the Timberwolves guard shot 36.4% from the field, going 6-for-12, 5-for-18, 8-for-21 and 5-for-15.

The Thunder did a good job of getting the ball out of his hands and Edwards had nine, 14, 17, and 21 rebounds+assists. He had at least seven rebounds in each game and at least seven assists in three. In those games, Edwards had 14.6 rebound chances and 13.7 potential assists per game.

Edwards is facilitating more in the playoffs with the second most potential assists on the team and has averaged 5.9 assists to go along with eight rebounds per game. Edwards has at least 14 rebounds+assists in seven of the 10 postseason games. He has averaged 9.5 potential assists and 11.9 rebound chances in the postseason. Edwards is going to see double teams and kick out to open shooters.

Edwards is going to play a lot of minutes. He averaged 40.8 minutes in the first round against the Lakers and 38.8 against the Warriors. He has played at least 40 minutes in seven of the 10 postseason games. The ball will be in his hands often and will set up teammates for good looks and crash the glass.
