Thunder vs. Timberwolves Prediction Game 3
Minnesota is in desperation mode for Game 3. The Timberwolves need a win to get back in the series. Much of the responsibility will fall on Anthony Edwards, who was named to the All-NBA Second Team.
The Timberwolves guard only took 13 shots from the field in Game 1 and as expected he was more aggressive in Game 2 taking 26 shots from the field. Edwards has a 32.7% usage rate in the playoffs and the ball will be in his hands often.
The Thunder tend to focus on slowing down Edwards and often send double teams his way. This forces Edwards to pass, often to open teammates. In this series, Minnesota has struggled to hit open shots with a 29% percentage from beyond the arc.
Players tend to shoot better at home, especially the role players, and the likelihood is more shots go in. Edwards had 13 potential assists in Game 2 and six assists. The Thunder rank 19th in rebounding percentage and last in the postseason. Edwards has taken advantage with nine rebounds in each of the first two games.
In the games against the Thunder this season, Edwards has seven rebounds and two assists, seven rebounds and seven assists, 10 rebounds and seven assists, 13 rebounds and eight assists, nine rebounds and three assists and nine rebounds and six assists. In the postseason, Edwards is averaging 8.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists on 12 potential rebounds and 9.3 potential assists.
Edwards tends to play the entire first and third quarters and there’s a good chance he sees 40+ minutes. He played 40 minutes in Game 2 and has played at least 40 minutes in eight of 12 postseason games. The games he fell short were due to injury or the games being out of hand late.
