Nickeil Alexander-Walker Anthony Edwards Minnesota Timberwolves 2025

Timberwolves vs. Thunder Prediction: Can Nickeil Alexander-Walker Spark T-Wolves in Game 5?

Minnesota hasn't been getting consistent production from some of its starters in the series against Oklahoma City, but Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been one of the best players in the series coming off the bench. Adam Ronis is looking to capitalize on the T-Wolves wing rotation in this Timberwolves vs. Thunder Game 5 prediction and best betting pick for Wednesday, May 28th.

Timberwolves vs. Thunder Prediction: Can Nickeil Alexander-Walker Spark T-Wolves in Game 5?

The Thunder need one more win to reach the NBA Final. Oklahoma City hosts Minnesota on Wednesday night in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. The first three games weren’t competitive before Game 4 turned into an exciting one. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 40 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists and Jalen Williams had 34 points, three rebounds and five assists to lead the Thunder after they were blown out by 42 points in Game 3.

Anthony Edwards only took 13 shots from the field and finished with 16 points and Julius Randle scored five points, shooting 1-for-7 from the field and had five turnovers. Minnesota needs a win to keep its season alive and has to win three straight games to advance and the Thunder never lost three straight games during the regular season.

Timberwolves vs. Thunder Game 5 Prediction

It has been a difficult series for Minnesota. Anthony Edwards has been limited to 13 shots from the field in two of four games and held to 18 points or fewer in two games. Julius Randle has games of five and six points in which he combined to shoot 3-for-18 from the field. The Thunder defense has focused on Edwards and forcing others to beat them.

One of those players is Nickeil Alexander-Walker. The Timberwolves guard has played a bigger role than anticipated after averaging six and seven points in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Alexander-Walker is averaging 25 minutes against the Thunder.

Minnesota has needed the defense of Alexander-Walker, often going against his cousin, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Alexander-Walker has been producing on the offensive end, too.

Alexander-Walker played 29 minutes in Game 4 and was often on the floor late in the game with Minnesota going small. He scored 23 points, shooting 9-for-15 from the field, including 5 of 8 from three-point range. He is averaging 10.8 shots from the field in the series and 15 points on 51.2% from the field and 48% from beyond the arc as he often gets good looks from the outside. He has hit at least two three-pointers in each game.

Alexander-Walker has gone over this points prop of 9.5 points in the last three games with 17, 12 and 23 points. Minnesota is facing elimination and will play the guys producing and Alexander-Walker has been one of the best reserves for them and while Mike Conley starts, he hasn’t been contributing and has averaged 23 minutes per game and just 19 in Game 4.
