Philon is the key to the Sixers’ upset case. He brings the kind of downhill scoring and passing profile that can travel immediately in Summer League, and he should have enough usage to dictate pace. Philadelphia also has Johni Broome back after an injury-hit rookie year, giving the Sixers a more experienced interior option who can screen, rebound and stabilize possessions.
Detroit’s roster is led by Okorie, a shot-making guard from Stanford, and Ugonna Onyenso, a rim-protecting second-rounder. Chaz Lanier gives the Pistons a returning shooter with some NBA time, while Isaac Jones, Dawson Garcia and Steven Crowl add size and maturity. That is enough to justify Detroit being favored, but it also creates a rotation that may need time to find hierarchy.
The Sixers are not the deeper team on paper, but Summer League spreads are often about guard creation and free-throw pressure.
